Many new college students report pet separation anxiety

A survey from Washington State University of new college students revealed that students who had dogs at home tended to report more attachment to their pets—and more separation anxiety—than those with cats and other types of pets.

3 in 5 people consider their pet to be their soulmate

This was a survey from a pet insurance firm in the USA - but I'm pretty sure that Kiwis will feel similarly about their pets. The people who hire me to work with their dogs definitely consider them family, and I see the evidence of their connection.

Survey finds a need for pet care during hospitalizations

When clinicians discovered a pattern amongst patients that they were concerned about their pets at home, they decided to conduct a small survey about the need for urgent pet care. There are many pet parents who are socially isolated or who have few friends and family who can assist in a 'pinch.' Having been in hospital myself a few times, having a good caregiver for my dog has always been a priority.

A textile-based implant containing cartilage derived from stem cells reduced pain and restored hip joint function to baseline levels in a study of dogs with symptoms of moderate osteoarthritis. This type of research is funded primarily because the results will help human health care.
